Steve Topazio grew up on the beaches of Rhode Island as an avid surfer. He
dabbled with some sand sculpting at that time. As time went, he graduated with a
fine arts degree from URI but his interests focused on painting and illustrating.
About 6 years ago on vacation, Steve entered a sand sculpture contest at the
resort beach and won.
He proceeded to find out all about this art form and discovered there were 2
Master Sand Sculptors living in New England. He made contact with Greg Grady
and Justin Gordon and through their teachings of various sand sculpting
techniques soon acquired the knowledge to elevate him to a professional level.
Steve now competes in master competitions at Hampton Beach in Hampton, New
Hampshire; Cranes Beach in Ipswich, Massachusetts; and Revere Beach in
Revere, Massachusetts.
He has also been invited to the World Championship in British Columbia and the
Masters Competition at Virginia Beach.
